I knew it would be dangerous. The mountain spirits in their stony forms were a different kind of threat than the fluid, unnatural Lin Xiao, and who knew what creatures or challenges awaited me in places connected to water.
But I also felt a growing sense of purpose. I was not just a passive observer anymore. I was a participant, a guardian of a hidden world that needed its balance restored.
And I was not alone. I had the guidance of the sculptures, the mysterious advice of the Palm reader, and the remote support of Seeker. And somewhere, in a remote rain forest, there were villagers who had faced the Lin Xiao and held onto their ancient faith.
Perhaps, as I continued to find the pieces of the Lim Ling’s heart, I would also find answers, not just about the Lim Ling, but about the true nature of the world, and my place in it.
My next destination seemed to be calling. A place of ancient legends and the power of water. A river? A lake? Or perhaps, the vast and mysterious ocean.
The journey continued.
